Course Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

AI is now part of everyday work. It drafts our emails, summarizes our documents, answers our customers, and shapes decisions that affect people. Most employees are already using it. Very few have ever been taught how to use it well.

This course closes that gap.

What this course is

A practical, non-technical primer on responsible AI use at work, written for employees in every function. No background in AI or technology is required. There is no theory for its own sake, and no jargon left unexplained.

What you'll learn

You'll start with what generative AI actually is, and the distinction that explains almost every AI failure: these systems produce plausible text, not verified truth.

From there you'll cover the principles that governments, standards bodies and major technology firms have all converged on — fairness, transparency, privacy, accountability, safety and human oversight — and what each one means for someone doing ordinary work.

Then you'll see how AI goes wrong in practice. Confident fabrications that reached a courtroom. Confidential information pasted into a public chatbot and lost for good. Hiring tools that learned to discriminate. A finance team deceived by a synthetic video call. Every case is documented, and every one carries a lesson you can apply.

Finally comes the practical layer: a short risk check to run before you use any AI tool, a clear rule for what information should never go into one, an understanding of who is affected when AI shapes a decision, and a working knowledge of how organizations govern AI — including the regulations now shaping the field.

How it's taught

Through real cases rather than abstractions, in short lessons built around one idea at a time. You'll recognize the situations, because they happen in ordinary offices on ordinary afternoons.

What you'll take away

Downloadable desk cards, a risk checklist, and an adaptable AI acceptable-use policy template you can bring back to your own organization.

Who it's for

Anyone who uses AI at work, or is about to — in HR, finance, marketing, operations, customer service or leadership. This is not a technical course, and it does not cover building, coding or fine-tuning AI systems.

The course runs about 38 minutes. Plain language, real examples, and no wasted time.
