Why people risks surprise the company
A payroll mistake goes out to the whole staff. A key person leaves with no successor. A manager is accused of discrimination. A new hire turns out to have a history nobody checked. Each of these looks like bad luck, and each was a known risk that nobody wrote down, scored or assigned to an owner. Risk management in HR is the habit of doing exactly that before the event.
What changes after this course
You have a list of people risks with a probability, an impact and an owner for each. You know which controls belong to managers, which to HR and which to audit. You notice the early signs of fraud and misconduct. You measure what used to be a feeling: turnover risk, engagement, pay gaps. You have a plan for a crisis. And you make people decisions with a method that reduces bias.

You do not have to take this number on trust. Open any lecture and read its description: every tool inside is listed there by name.

What this course is not
It is not legal advice and not an ISO certification. ISO 31000 is used here as a framework for thinking about HR risks. For a legal question in your country, ask a lawyer.
Who is teaching
I am Mike, the #1 HR instructor on Udemy, with 1,800,000+ course enrollments from 170,000 students, and the author of about 200 books on Amazon. I built the people system at Preply as it became a unicorn and worked at Wargaming, iDeals and Alfa-Bank across 20 years in HR. I hold PHRi, SHRM-CP and HCI sHRBP certifications and represent HRCI in Eastern Europe.
I have met most of these risks in person. At a television channel with many vacancies, hiring a fraudster was a likely risk, and the security service brought it close to zero. Payroll mistakes happened, often not in favor of employees. A letter with everyone's salaries went to the wrong address. An employee dismissed without cause went to court. The same channel had work with fire, at height and with high voltage, so the company hired a very experienced safety specialist from a large plant and paid him well above the usual level. He could walk onto a set and say: stop, I forbid this. That is what a real control looks like.
