[100% OFF] Mac Terminal from Scratch: Command Line for Beginners
Use the macOS Terminal with confidence: files, find, grep, pipes, permissions, sudo, processes, sed, awk and aliases
Course Description
The Terminal is the fastest way to do many things on a Mac, and it is the first step towards Linux, development and DevOps. This course starts at the prompt and builds up, so you finish able to move around, find things, change them and keep control of what is running.
What the lectures cover
Besides the main topics, you also work through: Check and change your working directory, and use tab completion; Find files in many ways; Search with grep and wc, redirect output and use pipes; Chain commands, and use sed and awk; Save time with history and aliases, and edit with Vim in eight parts.
Inside the course
The course is organised into these sections: Getting Started; Working with Files; Processes and Scheduling. Essential Shell Tools; Woking with VIM. Lectures you will find include: Working with Prompt; Current Working Directory; Working with Directories; Working with Commands; Gaining administrative privileges with sudo command; Searching the needed info with grep&wc; Cat and output redirection; Processes and jobs; Exploring all running processes with top command; Understanding process states; Sed and awk.
The course runs about 3 hours in 38 lectures. It is a beginner course focused on the macOS Terminal, so it does not cover shell scripting in depth or specialised developer tools. The commands are largely the same on Linux, which makes this a useful first step if you plan to move into Linux or DevOps later. Short lectures let you try each command straight after watching it.
