[100% OFF] Windows Server with Powershell: Working with Pipeline 2
Powershell for beginners. Learn how to use Pipeline and Work with Objects: Enumerating, Passing Data by Value/ by Name
Course Description
Two commands joined by a pipe either work at once or fail with a confusing error. The difference is parameter binding: how PowerShell decides which parameter receives the objects coming down the pipeline. This short course explains it, so you can predict whether a pipeline will work before you run it.
How the course works
Each lecture shows the commands live in a PowerShell window on Windows Server, with the help files open, so you see exactly where the binding rules come from. You can pause and run every example yourself.
Inside the course
- Enumerating objects in the pipeline: ForEach-Object and working with each object in turn.
- Passing data by value: how PowerShell matches an object type to a parameter.
- Passing data by property name: matching property names to parameters, and how to fix a pipeline with calculated properties or parentheses when binding fails.
A practical example
A typical case: you have a CSV file of computer names and want to query each one. Whether a simple pipe works depends on the column name - rename it or use a calculated property, and the same one-liner suddenly runs.
The course runs about 1 hour in 14 lectures. It continues "Working with Pipeline 1" but also works on its own if you already use basic PowerShell commands.
